Sonnet- Today’s Politicians Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet- Today’s Politicians

Will human beings never learn lessons?
Their hearts turn cold with time and minds think not,
Preoccupied with vengeance in sessions;
To overthrow their opponents, they plot.

And Politics has scope for big-money;
But tongues must lie and hands must do evil;
Where life on earth is one of milk/honey?
Where God’s forgot, men serve the chief devil!

No crises make them realize their wrongs;
They say one thing and do clandestine things;
And power-mad with ideas like tongs,
To many, all at once, their downfall rings.

Which head that wears the crown can sleep with it?
With time, the crown becomes heavy, unfit.
