Sonnet: The Sacrament Of Reconciliation Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Sacrament Of Reconciliation

Rating: 1.0

When man does sins of every kind, he hurts
The Son of God, Christ Jesus on the cross,
And causes Him to suffer as blood spurts,
Increasing anguish, making Him still worse!

Though venial sins can cause Him wounds not deep,
Repeated sinfulness does harm Him much;
Yet, mortal sins can make the Lord to weep,
Denying forgiveness, and mercy's touch.

Confess your sins to Christ and reconcile
With God, and get your sins and rod absolved;
To Him, no sin is grievous-most or vile;
The drift away from God is thus resolved.

God knows the weaknesses of humankind;
The heart of God is merciful and kind.
