Sonnet: God Won’t Forsake Me Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: God Won’t Forsake Me

Rating: 5.0

When God has stood by me in yesteryears
When I had sinned more grievously than now,
Should I not ward off my unfounded fears,
And take the road to Heaven with new vow?

When God helps me when I never do ask,
He surely will, when open is my heart;
No more I wish to wear a sinful mask!
With God with me, no devil can act smart!

When troubles come, I’ll hold onto my God;
He heals the ills of body, mind and soul;
The world of lucre looks to me now odd!
He knows how to reset my earthly goal.

God, let Thy purifying act take place,
And let my soul be enriched by Thy grace.
