So Delicate Poem by Peter Mamara

So Delicate

by M. Eminescu (1850-1889)

You are so delicate
Like, a white flower of a cherry tree.
And you come into my life
Like, an angel comes amongst people.

You hardly touch the soft carpet
— Its silk turn heads under your feet.
You float weightlessly, like a dream,
— From head to toe.

You appear like a statue on two legs
— From the fold of your long dress.
My heart is fond of your eyes
— The ones, which are full of luck, and tears.
Oh, joyous dream of love, you
— Like a gentle bride from tales —
Don't smile any more.

Your smile shows me how friendly you are
When, on this enchanted-night
You can blind my eyes for good
With the warm hint of your lips
— And with hugs, and with your cold hands.

Suddenly a thought appears
— Like a veil on your passionate eyes.
It is utter renunciation.
It is a hint at sweet desires.
