Small Head Poem by Binayakumar Mohanty

Small Head

Too small
Are the heads
Of the goats
Grass from deodar
To discrimnate.

Who is Kalidas?
Shakespear who?
My foot.

Everything is OK
As long as
For our sensuous tongue
And teeth.

Too small are the heads
Of the goat
To resolve falsehood
From truth.

Mahakavi Vailoppillil Sreedhara Menon, who wrote in Malayalam has written of such human beings: Ethiri Vattom matram kaanmavar Ethiri vattom Chinthikkunnavar - those people who see only a tiny area around them, whose minds are so small that they can hardly think beyond. The pity is that the number of such 'goats' are on the increase... those who can not think beyond them, beyond their selfish interest... It is a grievous fault of ours, as The Bard said.
