Sister So Sad Poem by Marquita Lawson

Sister So Sad

Sister keeps on trying everything she knows
To make the days all sunny; to calm the wind that blows
But Sister is misguided - thinking this is all there is
No one has ever told her that everything is His.

Her friends all admire her; she makes very few mistakes;
And if by chance she'd loose a friend, it’s not her heart that breaks.
If we could all be perfect and not need guidance from above
Then we could live like Sister, locked in her godless love.

2006 - inspired by an encounter with a stranger's words of sarcasm about my spiritual themes for my poetry and songs
