Shiraz Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Shiraz

Shiraz

Too many have heard the name Shiraz
"It is wine, "; "Person's name."

I hear and smile and wonder:
"Shall reply? "
"How to talk? "

To them name is person or a wine
to me is land of vine, sole's divine.

I lived there
I know that valuables, treasures are much there.

Persepolis, history, poetry, many lives
Hafez and his Ghazals,
Saadi and books, advice.

I know of the grape named Khollar
vine is mom to the wine called Shiraz.

But still I love to hear them
Immature, sometimes wrong.

This wrongness is great
Keeps city of Shiraz on the tongues, and alive.

What about the people named Shiraz?
