Shattered. Poem by Marcondes Pereira

Shattered.

Shattered.
I. Sleepless Nights
O4: 37am… Four thirty-seven
Again, I gaze the darkness of my room.
My eyes do not know how to sleep anymore.
Where is the colorful road towards heaven?
I wait my cliché doom
While I reprise my golden times of before.

II. Unknown Repentance
I know that today
Is a poor copy of yesterday.
I stand lying down and nothing gets better,
I stand lying down and time flies faster,
Tomorrow, I will live another empty day.

III. Where Heroes Failed.
Antidepressant did not save me from closure.
Motivational messages brought to me a mute hate.
My walk made me dislike my own fate.
I even abandoned my beloved literature.

IV. Parents' Whispers.
'He is coward and lazy who doesn't fight',
'He prefers virtual world instead the real life',
'He avoids friends, dreams and soft youth's light.'

V. Character.
I pretend blindness while I live my daily strife.
I pretend smiles above my scars made with a knife.

VI. Tearful Nights.
During the day, I pretend to live, but I cry each night…
