Shame On Us Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Shame On Us

Aftermath,
Of the deadly school shooting
At Parkland, Florida
Three adults, fourteen students dead

They are just another statistic
In a cycle of never ending death

Students, nationwide,
Band together
With their battle cry
"Shame on you"

Our youth,
Have no vote, have no say
So many of their voices
Cry out from the grave
"Shame on you"

A shameful and tragic times we are living in. Now our children are dying for our indifference. God, Lord and Ssvior, we need you.

0500am,24 March 2018, watching CBS This Morning - Saturday. Today, half a million students, teachers, and many more will rally in Washington D.C. for the March For Our Lives Rally. Organized by students with their plea, Never Again.

The message in your poem is clear and direct about that ghastly shooting. I favour strict gun control. Unfortunately, Mr. Trump declared that the National Rifle Association are good people, who 'will do the right thing'. America has had too many mass shootings in recent times. I grieve for these children.

A sad thing, indeed. Something needs to be done about people with mental problems being able to obtain assault rifles. Plus, the FBI was warned about this guy in Florida and that he might do something like this, yet they did nothing.

If you have the time, perhaps read two of my other poems, State Of The Union and Sadness Of Our Times.
