Shadow Of Rain
Just after the sunset today,
The sky as if lowered itself down
And then started a sudden downpour!
The birds on the trees had barely gone to sleep.
Disturbed by the rain that moistened their nests,
They imaginably pulled each other close to their bosom
And fell asleep again, unconcerned!
The trees got wet;
People walking on the streets
Were caught unaware!
Drenched by the sudden rain,
That was untimely and unlikely too,
Some tried to rush to a shelter,
But to no avail, as there was none nearby!
Standing on the balcony,
I watched the dropping rain, the lightning flashes,
As I drank coffee, sipping from a mug.
I wished the rain to continue longer,
But it abated a little while after.
It washed the trees and the pavements clean.
Refreshed me too, giving me something to write about.
