Saleem Sinai Playing The Shehnoi On The Night Of Midnight Freedom
Sallem Sinai would have played the shehnoi
On the night of midnight freedom
With the midnight children
During the tryst with destiny,
Indian declaration of independence,
People bursting fire-crackers,
Freedom fighters and politicians all gleeful,
Making declarations,
But waiting too hold conferences later
Inclusive of all the midnight children
Supposed to be with telepathic powers.
