Remembering 'd' Day by Harry Riley

Will you remember 'D' Day?
Do you even know what it means?
Did you know it began our deliverence?
Do you even care two beans?

It's not your fault that a young man died
Just one among many, his mother cried
His country had called, and he went to war
Then fell on a beach, and moved no more

He has no name that I recall
I just know that Adolf Hitler began it all
The slaughter and pain is what I believe
But no personal reason for me to grieve

So why in my life do I feel such a loss?
So why in this age should we care a toss?
So why, oh why, when we all have to die
Has a 'D' Day death brought a mist to my eye
