Remembering Poem by Phillip Erb

Remembering

Hello, it P
Just dropping
You a note so it
Can never be said.
I left without saying.
I love you, I'm sorry.
I hope that tomorrow.
Finds you anywhere better.
Then back here on the side
Of all the reckless cheaters
The countless liars beside the fire
Where the needs of all the demon
Burn endless numbers of all us sinners
Chained from the tips of our fingers to our toes
Wearing so much of our family's blood for clothes
Carried so close you can practically taste it in the nose
The smell of memories of such deep secrets no one knows
Why do you still even have a memory of all the foreign places
You and I were supposed to have walked in search of truth, happiness
So many good days just never made it across the cutting boards no unsliced
Holidays will never replace history
I remember when you said something
Was left behind and quite forgotten by time
Times that tasted so bitter
Sweet memories hurt instead
