Reid's Poem Poem by Pleasant Dabbs

Reid's Poem

(Red color of U. of U., blue color of BYU
Hutch a U. of U. fan, Reed a BYU fan)

I just don't know quite how to start…
This tribute that comes from the heart
You know, the one that's in your chest
We all have one, but yours? ...THE BEST!

There are some, yes, that give you flack
You grin & smile - give it right back
When Hutch says that your color's red
It makes you blue- "Go back to bed"…

You tell him as you change the channel
Then sit & watch with short sleeves, not flannel
And when you see they've blown the game
Hutch calls, says "Reid- now who's to blame? "

You say, "Well, Jones he broke his knees
And Gimmplededom was scratchin' fleas
Matt Young, you know, he hurt his shoulder
I guess that's ‘cause he's getting' older

And Smith? You know he's had abuses
Ol' Hutch says " Reid, no more excuses
Let's face it! The U's a whole lot better
The team is full of brawn: Go-Getters

But Reid came back with ‘nother one
In the end…they tied! When all was done
They came upon a plan that would
End it for once and all- FOR GOOD!

Reid bought some ice, Hutch made a fire
In Reid's fireplace, while he was at choir
On Reid's way home, in Hutch's car
Reid placed ice on the seat of his Jaguar

Reid sat by his wood-burning stove
Hutch took his Jaguar and he drove
Reid got so hot, his face turned RED
Hutch's bum turned BLUE, he-went back to bed
