Recently. Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

I feel as though I haven't written a poem in ages.
I guess it's because right now in life I am going through some difficult stages.
It seems I don't know exactly what to do,
I have an unwritten lab which I call overdue,

Although it's deadline is tomorrow midnight,
I finish the night before because it helps me sleep tight.

Everything hurts sometimes,
It all becomes confusion- these dire chimes.

However, I just want to relax and ponder,
On research and a future endeavor.
Maybe we can together.

Maybe I am not the only one struggling from a load.
Leaping from one task to another as some toad.

I hope to get as much done as possible by Wednesday.
Maybe then I get to linger and engage in time which feels fray.
