Rapunzel, Born Of Hunger Poem by Harley White

Rapunzel, Born Of Hunger

Rating: 5.0

[Song from my version of "Rapunzel"]

(Witch sings to Mother, who is clinging to baby :)

Rapunzel, born of hunger
That never could be sated, —
The Furies' song was sung her—
Her destiny created.

You've nourished from my garden
This baby, in your womb.—
Such sin can find no pardon.—
Your craving was her doom.

(Witch, in front of Mother and baby, repeats :)

Rapunzel, born of hunger
That never could be sated, —
The Furies' song was sung her—
Her destiny created.

You've nourished from my garden
This baby, in your womb.—
Such sin can find no pardon.—
Your craving was her doom.

(Witch sings, forcing Mother to hand over baby :)

I'll take the child and leave you—
To raise her as my own.—
Though parting now will grieve you,
The cause is yours alone.

Rapunzel, born of hunger
A fate none can defy—
The Furies' song was sung her—
To be her lullaby…

(Repeat :)

Rapunzel, born of hunger
A fate none can defy—
The Furies' song was sung her—
To be her lullaby…

(Witch repeats, going away with baby, amidst the broken-hearted sobbing of the devastated Mother and Father :)

The Furies' song was sung her—
To be her lullaby…

(Witch repeats, fading out as she disappears with baby, Rapunzel :)

To be her lullaby…
To be her lullaby…
To be her lullaby…
To be her lullaby…
