Ragged Wraiths Poem by Paul Brookes

Ragged Wraiths

dreams scurry through the night
in cascades of monochrome paints
grey on grey on grey
chiaroscuro visions blaze
they are not mine to own but yours
pale clad Njorun
for you are in everyone
each twisting staircase that meanders
revolving doors turned to roulette wheels

you are the light playing on waters deep and dark
the night prowler fleet footed
sleek subtle sable shades the night
a sliver of moon for light
mercurial curious cloud chariots
that melt like hoar frost at the suns touch
leaving the dreamer to wake disturbed
and wonder at their meaning.

Surprising what we envision in our dreams. Ghosts of the night is a great way of expressing your poetic emotions. Nicely done! : -)
