Questions You Need Not Ask! Poem by Dorsey Baker

Questions You Need Not Ask!

In the intersection
a man is standing with a sign
in his hand turning like a
farris wheel
to face the motorists, on his
sign a plea for help.
A homeless man in a desperate
situation!
Unclean clothes and badly
needing a shave!
A few motorists donate.
He smiles and thanks them.
Sweat pouring off his face
as he stands in
the boiling sun!
A homeless shelter
just across the street.
Maybe he was denied.
Is he an alcoholic?
Does he have a drug problem?
Questions you need not ask!
