Prison Poem by Dorsey Baker

Prison

heavy smell
sickness and sadness
them endure
cage the animal
within the beast
after darkness
the bars all around you
they begin to close in
a larger place
becomes a smaller one
when the weight
of the night
begins to fall
false face
upon the wall
it become
an angry monster
a cloud of fear
it hangs in the empty air
and it refuses to go away
despite your pleading
