Poor Old Windy Winston Poem by David Page- aka Harry Riley

Poor Old Windy Winston

Hello, I'm Winston, the sad wind turbine
You've never heard of me?
Well, no matter, I live in the middle of a field
And some say I'm not as worthy as a tree

I was born at Awsworth Village in March 2014
And at full stretch I stand 430 ft. high
I was named by local schoolchildren
And I wave back at them daily, but most just pass me by

Everyone sees me, but few stop and wave back
There are friends of Erewash Canal
And friends of Bennerly Viaduct
But a friend of Wnston-that is too banal

Except... except now I have a friend in Harry!
Harry led a 'Footprints Walk' to visit me
He has adopted me in his new book
'Conmmunities of the Erewash Valley'
