Poets Are Different Poem by Sandra Feldman

Poets Are Different

Rating: 4.3

Poets are different,
They canonize,
All of Life's secretes,
Just through their eyes.

Poets are different,
Planets apart,
Ever so lonely,
Right from the start.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The coin has two sides: this and the previous poem look at the other side, not the one with joy and frolic, community and parties, public readings and book signings. But the solitude in which we think our thoughts and write our poems, often a period of doubts, many drafts before the one that works finally takes shape, distractions overcome with difficulty. As I read this and the previous poem, I saw suddenly the sad but sweet face of Antonio Machado, a poet who knew the truth of what these two poems are saying. It's good that he came before us so that we benefit from what he made so wonderfully. And he left us a promise, a vision: ONE DAY THE GOOD AND SILENT SPIRITS WILL CARRY YOU TO A GARDEN OF ETERNAL SPRING. You know he's telling the truth.
