Peace Poem by Bill Cantrell

Peace

Rating: 5.0

My name is Peace
Some refer to my essence as an attribute,
some define me as a facet of love
Oh how I have been distorted by articulated slander
I make concessions for imperfections, that is within reason
I have been the most sought after, most ignored,
and I must say the most short lived when once established
Their definition of me?
While at the same time being impersonated by a crafty slight of a forked tongue,
their song goes as this,
'One must have a bigger gun than his neighbor of which is thinking the same thing'
No need to explain myself any further than that!
Very soon the nations will sing my song while holding hands,
'Peace and security' people will be overjoyed until they see the ambush
Although I have nothing at all with maintaining it,
except to release the majestic gates of joy,
joy not brought by man for peace will be the result of justice being implemented by the creator of all things
Even now as the world crumbles, there are those who are truly joyful,
yes, my children and I keep telling them, just a little while longer.

Peace
