Our Beautiful Princess Poem by John Paul Butler

Our Beautiful Princess

I've got a lump in my throat
That's not an Adam's apple
Or for any other reason than
It's a lump of purest emotion

My sleeping beauty has gone
Our beautiful little princess
Before her second Christmas
Now the kingdom has fallen

And as she rests in peace
The rest of us are in pieces
We cannot rest a minute
Without our gentle princess

Tears well and tears swell
So the mass in my throat
Won't stop getting bigger
And cannot be removed

I've got a lump in my throat
That's not an Adam's apple
Or a lump like her cancer
I'm choking with all emotion
