One Day I Was Invisible Poem by Phyllis Strong

I sneezed, and nobody said “bless you.”
I asked a question, nobody answered.
I looked a man in the eye, and said “hello.”
He said nothing.

I was driving my car in a neighborhood
It was some teenagers walking,
In the middle of the street
And they didn’t even move over.

I went into a business to shop,
And not one employee said,
“Hello, can I help you.”

I wanted to get pass a lady
I said “excuse me.”
And she didn’t move out of my way.

I was driving down the interstate
And a car just came over into my lane.

I was driving through Mississippi,
I stopped to get gas
The attendant just stared;
And would not turn the pump on for me.

I fell, and no one asked if I was ok.
