Native Land Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Native Land

After a long time
The man has come back to his native land,
He is old and wrinkled now,
Being Jubilant, he goes to embrace its soil, its air, water and every precious object in the atmosphere.
But alas!
Everything flees farther and farther from
him which seems strange to the man,
He wonders and wonders;
"Why are you alien to me? "
He asks his native land with great emotion and fervour,
Immediately someone answers him fiercely from the open sky,
"You brute! Try to remember your sin,
You had relentlessly betrayed me once."
