Modern Mohammedan Poem by Darlan M Cunha

Modern Mohammedan

*

Swim across, because the bridges can no longer
exercise your fortune, rigor mortis
involve them, phones are useless in this fight,
reach out and cover yourselves
growing fear - look at the dog, the capybara, the snake
the horses, haughty, out and in the water
as if pedaling, searching the other side of the river -
a world with new skin.
