Me And My Mate! Poem by Karla Bell

Me And My Mate!

Oh how we chuckled,
How comfortable i always felt
Her brown eyes twinkling
as they crinkled and smiled
Oh how we chuckled
at a splendid tale
The words of wisdom,
i wish she'd given me before.
How wonderful to sit,
Laugh cry and drink tea
Ha ha eat cake
And not want to leave.
My friend my mentor,
How cross i felt
we'd not many years before.
I believe i lost out..
Our trips to places, she wanted to see,
Slow down girl, im over 80!
She of me, i can hear her say
Her name so precious it's hard to say.
Her devotion not without episode
Of the people she adored,
Her jess-u-isms, what-u-isms, is-u-isms
And a cranky lot more! ! !
Her loss of people that were so so dear,
But she'd still hold and guide you, without challenge or fear
Her turned up jackets where she placed her hands
Her telling off eyes, with warmth behind
Her wisdom her humour her no nonsense guise.
We'd watch the mousicles, and tiny birds,
She'd listen to my stories and say how absurd! ! ! !
Her deploring idiots, she said she knew a few,
Her revealing touches of her secrets that nobody knew! ! !
She demanded so little
Just a slice of cake
Oh how we chuckled
Me and my mate.
