Lovers Leap Poem by Aaron Marchant

Lovers Leap

Rating: 5.0

Did I hold you a little too close? Kiss you a little too tenderly?
You looked at me bemused and inquisitive, then smiled confidently.
I had blown my cover. Shown my hand,
and lost you in a moment of unguarded sincerity.
All these years later, I still wonder what you found in its place?
If I could go back to that moment, would I change it?
Stop that betraying tear from welling in my eye?
Not at all. For that's the bargain. That's the risk.
And you, on that night, in that dress, were a worthy assassin
