Love Hurts Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

Love Hurts

Rating: 5.0

Love, too often romanticized,
Painted with shades of red and pink,
But behind the veil of passion,
Lies a pain that many dare not think.
It starts with a tiny spark,
A flickering flame in the heart,
Innocent and pure at first,
But soon, it tears us apart.
We fall, headfirst into the abyss,
Blinded by its beauty and charm,
But as we reach for its embrace,
It leaves us with a scorching harm.
We give and give, with all we have,
Our love, our time, our soul,
But in return, we're left with scars,
And the pieces of a broken whole.
The hurts of love, they come in waves,
Crashing against our fragile walls,
Leaving us battered and bruised,
With a heart that endlessly falls.
We question why we even try,
To chase after this elusive feeling,
For all it does is cause us pain,
Leaving us numb and reeling.
But yet, we continue to yearn,
For a love that's pure and true,
Pain may be a constant companion,
But love, it's worth it, isn't it, too?
For when it's good, it's like no other,
A feeling that words cannot describe,
And though it may hurt us at times,
Love, it's the reason we're alive.
So let us embrace the pain it brings,
For it's a part of this grand design,
And though love may hurt us deeply,
It's a journey we'll gladly intertwine.
For love, it may hurt, yes,
But it also heals and mends,
And in the end, it's all worth it,
For the love that never ends.
