Love Comes Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Love Comes

Rating: 5.0

Love comes when you least expect it
Like a kitten at your window on a rainy day
Scraggly and mangy and mewling.

Love comes when you are preoccupied
When you have told yourself you have no time
For tiny dependents and their endless demands.

Love comes when you are lonely
But in your stubbornness you may turn it away
Telling yourself you don't need the drain
On your already depleted energy.

Or you can let it in.
You can give it shelter.
You can let it rest at your hearth.
You can welcome it to your bed.

Love cannot be tamed.
It will not be trained.
It will not meekly obey.
It will do as it pleases.

It may stay aloof from you.
It may disappear for days.
It may return scarred and hungry.
Leaving you to wonder who it chose over you.

Each time you must make a choice:
Reject it or let it in again.
This is a dance of equals.
This is a mutual attraction.

Love will not give itself in fealty.
But when it comes to you
And settles in your lap
The comfort it brings is healing.

Hey, Suzanne! I definitely relate to this when I hold the cat image as primary. There’s a bumper sticker I think of, Dogs have masters, cats have servants. Thinking of Love with a upper case L, it’s true this One won’t be corralled, but what if this Love promises faithfulness forever? All the best to you! -Glen

Love comes when you are lonely and love comes in many other ways. We cannot imagine love's journey. This poem is very amazing and brilliantly penned...10
