Losing An Old Friend Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

It's very terrible losing a friend you've known the whole year
His company, time friendship, petty misunderstandings …
Will make me miss him the more
He came to be part of me
I knew he would not keep long
For the doctors and philosophers confirmed it
But I never knew parting would be soon
By midnight, he will be gone
Not that he is a sickle or cursed
But that it was destined; he will live for 365 days
And in his final hour; we shall sit by him till he sighs his final breath
I will miss him for several reasons
He came in when I lost a former friend
And now he, too, will soon be former
For a new friend is coming
A friend I do not know
A friend I cannot trust
But a friend I can't live without
My new friend is 2016...
...and my old friend….
