Looking Normal Poem by Andy Brookes

Looking Normal

Rating: 5.0

She looks quite normal they said.
pretending not to hear,
she wrapped the shreds of her sanity
around her skinny frame with dignity.
soft it conformed like a funeral shroud she thought
but of no comfort.

the tatters of her lucidity sometimes addressed her
but then the clouds of darkness rolled in.
she could not count the days of dark or those
sometime companions, of light.

on the balance sheet in the ledger of her mind
they mostly tended towards the dark.
confusion reigned and that was fearful.

admonishing herself, senses tingling with
foolish thoughts which skipped lightly across her fractured mind
to stretch glutenous, shinning like rising dough;
furnishing her mind with blue rinsed musings.

She looks quite normal said and she did,
but kept silent, lips tight locked like her perm.

A poem that must be shared with all those who are suffering in silence. To my favorites to remind me how to write beautiful but sad poetry.
