Lilting Lyrics 7 - Cuckoo
Cuckoos are of many kinds,
Cuckoo emerald, violet cuckoo,
Cuckoo small, large hawk cuckoo,
Cuckoo red winged, pied crested cuckoo!
Mind you! But all cuckoos are not melodious,
Many loud, some harsh, others even shrieking!
Musical cuckoos with sweet notes of
Melody, just a few in this world!
Ah! ! Wonder how the clever Architect of the universe
Accomplished such an exploit of voice, tone and expression!

Fantastic poem about cuckoos. Gained, some knowledge of cuckooo Varieties which I was not aware till date.I used to love to hear the cuckoo bird singing early morning when I visited my hometown. .

The cuckoo's voice is the most melodious during summer noon. I have heard them in my village. I don't know there are so many varieties of them. A nice poem indeed.

I've not heard a cuckoo for a long time but our song thrushes make up for that.
