You're still an icon of unique beauty.
We were friends even as our life bends,
Living in different places seeing new faces,
We still held the bond of a special place.
The Heath House blending regally into it's ancient landscape
Of the flatness of the Heath and the Rock of Dunamase,
Like an emerald drape.
We loved our breakfast in the morning,
Sausages sizzling and a mountain of buttered toast,
We chatted with the ease of being young, no time to boast,
Just joy oozing from our blue eyes,
Of the pure simplicity, like clear blue skies,
I was amazed at your incredible class and beauty,
We were free with just our stable duties,
To keep us busy and smiling at the jokes,
Of the great humour of the County Laois folk.
But life bends in different directions,
Happiness we found in County Laois,
No need for any corrections,
A blend of the crack and our local Treacy's pub,
Of drinking, talking and playing with green goo in a tub,
I remember your eyes shone with the stamp of just being you,
I believe you still look down on this County Laois view,
A bond of friendship,
So deep, I say a prayer for you in an empty pew
In my local church,
Gone too soon Nootsy, you live on walking through The Heath,
To Treacy's pub it's light beckoning us to it's fire burning with peat,
To warm our character and to hear the jokes an eternal treat.
Memories come rushing in, taking us back to good old times! Each time such memories resurrect in us we are transported back to that clime and time! Reading this, I can very well imagine what a beautiful time you had together! A great tribute to your friend whose memory you still treasure though both of you had to part ways!
Wow, you hit it at the right center of great button..beautiful work, loved it

(cont.) and more: To Treacy's pub it's light beckoning us to it's fire burning with peat, To warm our character and to hear the jokes an eternal treat. BUT the 2nd and i think the 1st it's should be its, the possessive form of the pronoun it, which, unlike Hazel's does/should NOT include an apostrophe! ;) very nice! to MyPoemList. bri :)
The Heath House blending regally into it's ancient landscape..County Kildare? but: its, not it's. Thanks for Poet's Notes. i 'love' the alliteration sizzling sausages, and..the rest of stanza 3/ a favorite line: But life bends in different directions, oh, it does! ! ! (cont.)
We are friends and we are living in different places but still we face each other and feel far across the globe. We have special poetic bond here. A bond of friendship is definitely special. Friendship carries trust. An excellent poem is beautifully penned...10
