from this summit I see
snow laden peaks conquered
pain exhaled for joy

The highest pinnacles require the most pain. Breaking through rewards us with a grander view of the journey behind us. Reminding us of previous struggles overcome. Giving hope for what lies ahead. Sometimes life offers valleys or mountains; take the mountain.

Hi, Laurie! Well, I did some hiking over the Christmas break, and am planning a major backpacking trip in the Tetons this summer. I love that particular verse, and just as appropriate: Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal...
