'Knighted' Poem by Ray Springer

'Knighted'

“KNIGHTED”

Hi good morning I hope you have a good day
I enjoyed the time we spent last night I just wanted to say
You made me laugh so much I started to cry
The frustrations of the day couldn’t touch me even if they try
The last touch of your lips haunted me through the night
But it kept me warm despite the cold’s constant bite
Contagious as a yawn is your smile
Precise as every dropp from a waterfall you make every touch worth my while
Your eyes alone tells the extent of your thoughts
Covered by your hair I stare making sure not to get caught
Remembering times before you and me
When you intentionally planted your first tree
From then hence on you’ve watched it grow
Day by day its love would show
Manifested now you clearly see
That what u planted was a strong oak tree
The sound of your voice makes the waves of my sea calm
Like a knight in the shadows you make sure that I come to no harm
You say nonsensical things that are not always true
As a playful response I always say “I’ll slap you”
To begin the day you are in my first prayer and thought
There’s no gift sought or bought that could explain the naught caught from ending the night without you
Your body’s warm embrace no birds nest could surpass
In your arms forever this feeling I pray would last
I often aimlessly ponder activities that consume your head
References to life, wealth, family, truth and the warmth of a stress free bed
All these things I’ll get answered there’s always more time
For right now, my Black Knight, I’m just glad you’re mine
