Insane Reality Poem by Gaurav Mittal

Insane Reality

Occasionally I make
The innocent mistake,
Of opening these eyes
To the world around me.
And then all I can see is
Madness; Insanity.

'Be selfish, wear a mask
At all times, and pretend;
Indulge in vanity.'

'Why care about that child
Who has no clothes to hide
His damned naked body? '

'Be blind to the hungry,
The poor and the helpless -
To all disparity.'

'God intended all this -
For us to succumb to
This Selfish Gravity'

'This is Rationality! '

Is it? How could it be?

If it were a bad dream
I could have hoped to rise
To a world where the Mind,
From this madness, was free.
But it does seem to me
That this insanity,
Is the reality.
