Indian English (For Mr. Dillip) Poem by Jacson Gelato

Indian English (For Mr. Dillip)

There is a poet here who says -
Indian English Is Adored Eveywhere!
Does he not know that everywhere
in the world the accent of Indians
while speaking the English is so weird
that they pronounce the words so funnily
and it makes everyone to scoff.

There was also a movie I watched called-
English-Vinglish which was made in the USA
and it made us laugh as it invited
parody and mockery as Indians personally
find it so challenging when they try to
change their accent and there is a big struggle
in speaking the English language
which is not their native or nation's lingo.

I pray to poets to restrict their expressions
and not compel others to read or accept
such unrealistic statements - that Indian English
is adored everywhere in the world.
I appeal to God to cure such poets if they
are sick or suffering of any ailment or enmity
as it is so absurd to say what is not bearable.

Even here in Portugal we cannot speak English
as fluently as the British or the Americans
and we have no right to say -
Portuguese English is Adored Everywhere
and that our Portuguese English is best
as we believe in reality and reasoning.
