In A Japaneese Garden Poem by Jean Dament

In A Japaneese Garden

Rating: 5.0

A captivating geisha wanders through a lovely flower garden,
Burdened with a heavy heart & wanting pardon,
Looking so fragile,
But not quite so; as many others would otherwise tell,
Lost in thought not seeing nature's beauty that is surrouding
She ponders the lure of freedom with heart pounding;
Whille standing on a bridge her charm blends in with the cherry trees,
But she feels so weighed down almost to her knees,
Then she stops to momentarily view her reflection in the pond below,
Realizing she's chained to a life chosen many years ago,
Tired & loney she sits down for a cup of green tea;
And wonders if she cried would anyone hear her plea,
She doesn't even notice which way the water flows;
Or if the lantern's light today glows,
Instead she stares at the statues of stone,
Comparing her life to them while feeling numb & all alone,
Haunted that her heart cannot be taken,
Knowing too well any love would be foresaken,
Then she gets up to leave her dreams behind;
And goes back to pretend that her life really is more kind.
