Improvement Is Not Born Out Of Envy Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Improvement Is Not Born Out Of Envy

Improvement is not born out of Envy
It's nurtured by the desire to be the best-
A striving for Perfection, be it slowly
Learning well from a challenge or a test.

Some people who vainly try to pretend
They are what they think is a 'poet',
Embarass themselves with the message that they send
Wrong sentences, predicates and subjects.

For the world is not made up of idiots
A majority of us can see the whole truth!
Evidence on the page which they can't refute
A tragic tale where Pride alone is their fruit.

Study and due practice is a matter of Choice
That is not worn like a cloak in an instant,
Excellence can come if one cares to heed its voice
Then the writing becomes a gem and the thought, not vacant.

Thank you Jessica Lockhart, for reading and leaving a comment. This was intended primarily for my fellow Filipino writers who deceive themselves with their insistence on writing in wrong grammar, refusing to learn and correct their work, thus displaying before the world a literary farce
