If Only In Dreams Poem by Alexander Beebe

Translucent images of you in my mind,
like clear spring waters that
refresh and revive. My worlds
not complete till I see you again.
For now I’ll just hold you, if
only in dreams.

If only in dreams we’ll sail toward the sun.
If only in dreams we’ll watch the tides run.
If only in dreams we’ll lay with the moon.
When I see you again all these dreams will come true.

Just last night we walked on the clouds.
We saw seas below us that beckoned us down.
Our toes kissed the waves as we sat on the winds,
which sailed us across to the white glowing sands.

I woke up to find you right by my side.
Our trip was a dream but it felt so alive.
The heartstrings that bind us one to another
resembles the dreams I would share with no other.

If only in dreams we’ll sail toward the sun.

If only in dreams we’ll lay with the moon.
When I see you again all these dreams will come true.
