Rating: 5.0

Oh dear daddy, you hear daddy,
I want to study I am ready paddy.
Now I am sure a l little daughter,
I promise I shall bring laughter.

Although I am daughter I feel,
I have right to study I have zeal.
Every day at home I shall work,
I shall serve breaking dark murk.

I know you are worried for sure,
I know my mind is all ever pure.
I do not need wealth and matter,
Give me wisdom you bless scatter.

What shall I do diamond gold?
I know I shall leave body in old.
Dowry does not fill mind greed,
I know wisdom truth does breed.

Being resolve knowledge comes
In next birth opens luck sums.
Do not please refuse oh father,
I am equal to son, do not bother.

Nature mother ever supports me,
Feel zeal father my vision you see.
I want to study I am ready paddy,
Oh dear daddy, you hear daddy.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Here a little girl child urges her father to study. But actually child urges to Super father of heaven to study and this poem has both material and spiritual perspectives. Little daughter too promises before father to bring laughter. Daughter expresses her feeling and informs her zeal about higher study. Still she promises to work at home and serve for family. She knows that father is worried for her but she assures that her mind is ever pure as like as of father. She says that she does not need wealth or matter because wisdom is better for her to gain other goals. In front of her zeal of study gold and diamond do not matter at all and that is why she urges to give her wisdom. She knows that knowledge becomes resolve and comes to next birth and opens norms of her luck. A daughter is too equal to son and there is no need to bother about. Nature mother ever supports her and for this reason she urges father to see her vision. So she urges through request to study in front of father. This poem is written in Odisha, India and dedicated to the people of the world.

Verily, a daughter has the ability and skill to work at home and work for a profession and earn as man, and earn livelihood and raise a family. The poem depicts the true nature of a girl.

Laughter is the medicine to the heart! And, to study is better than knowing nothing at all. Thanks for sharing.

a poignant write from the perspective of a girl-symbol of all girls/women - in India and elsewhere in the world - to whom a proper education is denied. All children are equal, and they have to be treated equally, because we (women and men) are all human beings, with the same rights and duties.. and Education is the common basis of our own future and the future of human society. Thanks for sharing, Bhargabi. Blessings

Even now it is so sad that daughters are discriminated while the sons are given a lot of education and exposure! Unless parents and the society learn to see men and women on equal footing, we will continue to be in an underdeveloped state! The poem is quite touching written from the perspective of a little girl who is denied education!
