I Sat Beside A Gravestone Poem by Phil Soar

I Sat Beside A Gravestone

I sat beside the gravestone
Talking to no-one
While the birds sang to me
And the wind blew across my face
It was a place of shelter
Where my mind could wander free
With no turmoil to trouble it
No sounds other than the wind and the birds
And should someone speak to me?
I would be humbled
To think that spirits thought me worthy
And would share a minute of their time with me

I sat beside the gravestone
And though I spoke
No-one was listening
