I Really Miss It

Rating: 4.8

I would like to have my hair back.
It once was thick and nearly black.
Now it is thin and almost white,
Bald spot reflecting lots of light.

On something else my thinking lingers:
I'd like to have all of my fingers!
I once had ten, and that was great.
Now they have been reduced to eight
And two-thirds. And, though it's hard to tell,
My manhood seems decreased as well.

My eyesight once was twenty-twenty
And now it has diminished plenty!
My ears are failing; fate's unkind,
But most of all I miss my mind!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
To see how I lost my fingers, read my poem BIG BANG MEMORY.

Of all the things I've lost,
I miss my mind the most.

Your poems Kim are adorable. full of humour, rhyme rhythm and an optimistic outlook towards getting older and you are indeed aging gracefully and you are charming. I enjoy your poems.

Painful facts painted in humour! As we grow old, our hair turns grey and thin. We lose our eyesight and the sharpness of our ears...... We may also lose our mind and as you feel it is the most deplorable loss. But I wonder how your fingers are reduced from 10 to eight.... I am sure it must have been an accident. But as far as you can look at all these losses with a sense of humour and as part of a natural process, you haven't lost anything! You are still a victor! Interesting poem!

Yes, Kim, I can relate to your poem. But, it helps to be surrounded by good friends and family.

It's nothing, but nature. Nice to view patiently how things happen, as they happen, but not to repent on what is lost. Nice write! Enjoyed reading.
