I'm Truly Believing Poem by James B. Earley

I'm Truly Believing

I'm truly believing an omnipotent being
'Tis over the entire Universe presiding
For whatever it's worth...this spaceship called Earth
It ain't religion that's doing the guiding

This my decision...my honest opinion
Not once ever intending to inflame
Religion as we know it...history's long shown it
The concept....is but a conman's game

Religion's presence redefining...dastardly maligning
...Thus a damning indictment in that regard
Biblical passages it frequents...mere points of convenience
...Hypocrites claiming....direct connection...with the Lord

Lo and behold...cunning method of control
...Varied smatterings of selective gobbledygook
Evangelical charlatans....bigoted partisans
...Parading....and manipulating...the Good Book

Seems religion's man made...specifically to persuade
That legion of gullibility it's guiding
I'm truly believing..."alone"....an omnipotent being
Spiritually...over the Universe...'tis presiding
