I Am Poem by Alison Mujati

I Am

Who sings valor?
Curved stone about a name.
Braved stormy seas and,
defeated after trials.
From edge to edge like, the garment seam.

Resented from pool parties.
Sneaked to meet old buddies
He realized time changes people.
And learned the hard way.

If God created them from his image,
Who gave them audacity,
Power to undermine others?
Have you forgotten,
When the weak grow strong
Pride stalls many to growth.
The feeble catches up and,
the ordeal becomes news.

For strife brought food to my plate.
Eating from every drop of its supply.
I silently prayed like an orphan.
Gave up on what life threw at me
Yet too hopeful that my prayers could be heard.
For one day, fate had to change my story.

I became a stray dog.
Few saw potential inside a fervent body.
They had no spine to give a hand.
Like the uncaring, they let me suffer fate.

Have ever risen from dirt?
A Phoenix from ash up in the sky
Shining across rays like a rainbow.
Never to show off but to praise God.
He is able and more than.
He sees you the same as the rest
If he blessed others,
Who is anyone to block your change?
I'm that testimony
A rose blooming from thorns.
Let love live for I am.
