How Does It Feel Poem by Kelvin Rush

How Does It Feel

How does it feel to be controlled by your mind
When the wisdom you conceal is eternally blind
How does it feel when you squeal like a rat
When you cry like a child and shake like a cat

How does it feel when you walk down the street
Scared and suspicious of everyone you meet
How does it feel when you go through your day
In a state of oppression with nothing to say

How does it feel when you close your eyes
When you pray to your God and reveal your lies
How does it feel to be trapped in pain
When you cannot let go of the torment and shame

How does it feel to be lost and confused
Crawling on your knees controlled and abused
How does it feel to be living in a cell
When your only friend is the ghost from hell

How does it feel to be locked away
When your only escape is to hope and pray
How does it feel to be read like a book
When you shine like a beacon then act like a crook

How does it feel to be surrounded by sin
When you have no resistance and always give in
How does it feel to be the last to know
When the ship set sail many moons ago

How does it feel when you bully and attack
When you give nothing out and get nothing back
How does it feel when you aspire to be good
Then you cheat on your wife and grovel in the mud

Everyone feels hurt and pain at times
When we can't forgive and we pay for our crimes
We lose our faith as our lives disappear
That's how it feels in a world full of fear
