Hidden Poem by Mahlubandile Phillips

Hidden

Walking amongst the crowd
he bows his head
covering his face

Ashamed, disgraced of a
body he wishes to
dispose
a skin feasting on his
esteem

Wounds hidden deep
within his body
finally a face he hates

He's grown to
know mirrors scream
in his reflection

He dreams of being in
someones body but
all disappears when
morning comes to wake up
from lies

At night a cry he sends to
the stars asking and wondering
why all he gets in return
an outburst of deep silence
