Heron Grey Poem by fraidoon warasta

Heron Grey

walking in dawn
after a frosty night
the meadow
heron grey
grass, metallic, rigid

walking in dawn
just wondering
how the pony's night
passed by
extending my sympathy?
nonsense!

i cast my admiring glance at
a glazen stream
it slides, sinks and glides by
without breaking the glass

in the wake of
this spring-like day
grass and other vegetation gently cast off
their frosty shells

unpolitically the sun
with its glittering teeth
rolls towards me
penetrating the electric fencing
to warm my frozen shoes

a sunny day!
moments of play
and nourishment
for sparrows and crows
grass, again celery green
i walked in dawn
