Greater Than Fear Poem by Dr. Antony Theodore

Greater Than Fear

Rating: 5.0

A scene by the sea
that I will not forget:
The mother
enjoys the surf.

She throws herself
into the foaming water
and screeches with pleasure.

He, one and a
half years old,
pokes calmly with
his little shovel
on the beach in the sand.

Then he looks up,
sees his mother
and walks clumsily
towards her.

The first small wave
washes over his feet.

He stops unsteadily.
Then he sees
the laughing face
of his mother,
walks on and
fails because of a
slightly higher
wave that knocks him over.

Mummy runs to him,
lifts him up,
looks again into
the smiling face
of his mother.
She hugs him
so lovingly.

We need something
or someone whom
we look to and
whom we can trust,

When the waves
of life knock us over
We can endure a lot
when we know
something greater
than fear.
In God we trust.
